Terms & Conditions of Participation
Registration:
Please send us the completed registration form by e-mail. This is unfortunately not usually possible from Internet cafes, so in such cases please print out the form and send it to us by fax (+49 551 474156) or by post.
Normally participants will receive a confirmation of registration plus a bill for the course within one working-day.
Conditions of Payment:
The participant is obliged to pay on time. Once the bill is received, a first instalment of 200 Euros is due immediately. The remaining course fees can be paid before the course via a transfer of funds from a bank or else be paid in cash by the second day of the course at the very latest.

In the case of one-on-one lessons, individual arrangements may be made with permission.
Participants are contractually-obliged to pay both course fees and any accommodation arranged, even where the lessons were only partially attended. Or not attended at all.
Accommodation:
Tandem Göttingen is gladly able to arrange accommodation for participants for the duration of their course. In this case, in addition to the first down-payment of 200 Euros for the course fees, we also require the payment of the rental of the chosen type of accommodation. We shall reserve the accommodation only upon receipt of this latter payment. Please be aware that we allot accommodation according to the order of in which we receive funds. This means that we may not always be able to book the participant's original desired accommodation. In such cases we recommend other possibilities for the accommodation of the participant.
Additionally, if private accommodation with breakfast or half-board is booked, then it may not be possible to also arrange the desired meals with the accommodation. German cuisine will be served.
Approximately 3 weeks before the beginning of the course, all participants receive precise travel information and the address of their accommodation in Göttingen. Göttingen is easily-accessible by public and private transport. (see the section 'Travel' on our homepage).
The arrival date is the Sunday before the beginning of the course. The departure date is the Saturday after the end of the course. The room must then be vacated by 11am on the Saturday at the very latest.
Withdrawal from or Cancellation of the Contract:
Withdrawal from the contract is possible at any time before the beginning of the course. By arrangement with the administration, it is also possible to postpone participation in a course until a later date. Such withdrawals must be confirmed in writing.
When a participant withdraws from a course up to 6 weeks beforehand, an administration fee of 50 Euros is payable.
When a participant withdraws from a course less than 6 weeks before the course is due to begin, we are permitted to send a bill for any costs with have fallen upon us as a result of this withdrawal, from the deposit of 200 Euros up to the maximum costs of the contract. If the participant does not turn up for the course/ accommodation or else the cancellation of the contract occurs or reaches the Sprachzentrum after the beginning of the course, then the participant is liable to pay the entirety of the contracted sum.
It is for the participant to bring to our attention and prove any occasions upon which the costs are lower than those billed-for.
Where a replacement participant is found by the participant who has withdrawn from the contract, no bill shall be presented for administrative costs. Any instalment paid shall be repaid should the exceed the administrative costs of cancellation of a contract.
Termination of Contracts:
In the case of contracts intended to last more than 12 weeks, it is possible to terminate such contracts after 3 months with a notice period of 4 weeks dating from the end of a month.
Statutory rights concerning extraordinary grounds for the termination of a contract are unaffected.
Non-Delivery of Courses:
Due to circumstances beyond the control of Tandem Göttingen, it is sometimes not possible to deliver courses as promised. In such cases, all previously-paid monies will be repaid. We shall not be liable to any further claims in this regard.
In cases where there are not sufficient numbers of participants of the same level, the number of hours offered per course may also be lowered accordingly.
Data Protection:
Participants' details are hereby stored electronically. This information is not and will not be made available to third parties.
Liability:
Participation in all events is undertaken at the participant's own risk. Tandem Göttingen bears no liability for injury to people or damage to goods. We therefore recommend that all participants take out Health Insurance.
Parents of students of under 18 years of age should be aware that neither guest-families nor the Sprachzentrum bear liability for the supervision of minors
Miscellaneous:
Tandem Göttingen reserves the right to change any technical and organisational details of our courses Especially in cases where courses are under subscribed, the number of lesson hours may be fewer than those stated on our homepage. Similarly, Tandem Göttingen reserves the right, in exceptional cases, to place more participants in a course than stated, should this prove appropriate.
No lessons take place on Holidays or on weekends.
In Germany, a 'lesson hour' lasts for 45 minutes.
Cases arising fall under the jurisdiction of the court of Göttingen.
