Göttingen is situated in the heart of Germany, so it
can easily be reached by all means of transport.
Göttingen is situated between the two international Airports of Frankfurt (250km) and Hannover (110km). If you travel via Frankfurt, you'll find a train station at the bottom of the airport. There are trains to the main station every 20 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to get there. About every other hour, there is even a direct ICE (see below) from the airport to Göttingen. If you arrive in Hannover you'll also find a train station at the airport.
For further flight information please refer to the respective websites of the airports:

Göttingen is located on the important north - south route from Hamburg to Frankfurt/München and therefore also has very good connections with the ICE (a very comfortable high speed train). From Frankfurt and Hannover there is an ICE departure to Göttingen about twice every hour. From Frankfurt to Göttingen it will take you about 2 hours, from Hannover only 34 minutes. Make sure you book your ticket early (several weeks in advance) to get attractive discounts on ICE tickets (often more than 50% off). Scattered between the departures of the ICEs, "Regionalexpress" trains are slower but cheaper options. A Regionalexpress from Hannover to Göttingen takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. A Regionalexpress from Frankfurt a.M. to Göttingen takes about 3 hours 20 minutes.
On Saturdays and Sundays you can buy a so-called "Wochenendticket". This allows 5 persons to travel with "Regionalexpress" trains as far as they like. The price for 5 persons is 39 EUROS. This is a good choice if you travel with friends. When buying your ticket you should inquire about special fares, as there are always special offers.
Please note that there are no trains from Frankfurt to Göttingen between 09:19 p.m. and 05:42 a.m..
